Personal Information: Collection, Use and Storage

Personal Identifier Information. Because we actively promote shared information between job seekers, employers, educational institutions and self-employment organizations on this site to assist individuals to find meaningful employment and achieve financial independence, we encourage individuals and organizations to voluntarily submit personal information in various forms through this site. Registration is required to use many of the features and services of this site. Information provided at registration includes the individual’s name (and organization), mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, and additional information as the individual or organization may elect to provide (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”). In an effort to assist job seekers in finding employment, we may request more extensive Personal Information from the job seeker, including their employment history, education, and other helpful information and details (if legally permitted) that the job seeker voluntarily provides. The Personal Information collected is used strictly to facilitate users' requests or to respond to a query. We do not sell Personal Information. Except as explained herein, we do not share Personal Information with any third party without the prior approval and consent of the individual or organization providing the Personal Information. The servers that house this site and the Personal Information users provide through this site are based in the United States of America. If you submit any personal information about yourself or others, including information inferring or demonstrating religious beliefs, affiliations, or practices, you alone are responsible for the consequences of making this transfer of Personal Information. If a user is unwilling to accept such risk they are under no obligation to submit any Personal Information through this site.

We routinely post job seekers’ Personal Information on our site with permission, but only grant access to that Personal Information to staff (employees and volunteers), church leaders, and registered employers or recruiters seeking new employees. We also routinely post the information of employers, educational institutions and self-employment organizations on our site, granting access to this information to all registered job seekers. Any information that is published about the job seeker, employer, educational institution or self-employment organization on our site has been voluntarily provided to us by the individual or organization through registration on the Web site.

Data Correction. Users may correct their Personal Information as published by logging on to this Web site using their registration identification and password and changing the information they have previously provided. Users should not share their log-in information with any third party, as doing so grants that third party access to the user’s personal information and would enable the third party to modify this information and/or change the information that is released to the specified groups with access to the data.

Identification Numbers, Social Security Numbers and Driver’s License Numbers. It is our policy not to collect government issued identification numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, or similar numbers for identification purposes. To the extent we collect and store such information it will only be done when provided by users voluntarily to meet government reporting requirements or to facilitate fulfilling a legal obligation necessary to help the user meet government-imposed requirements for employment. We use reasonable security measures to protect such information and destroy the information within a reasonable time after such information is no longer needed.

Site Activities: Collection and Use of Other Data

Cookies and Clear Gifs. We have contracted with a third-party service provider to help track and analyze usage and volume statistics on this Web site. The third-party service provider does not collect personal information from site visitors, only general summaries of site activities. This information is used only to improve site quality. This third-party service provider uses cookies and clear gifs (to help in tracking and analyzing site usage information). A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a browser when a user visits a Web site. A clear gif is a graphic file, rather than a text file, that is similar in function to a cookie. Cookies and clear gifs do not identify the user personally; they simply identify the browser and track the settings, preferences, or features. When a user returns to this Web site, the user’s browser sends the cookie or clear gif to our Web server and/or the third party’s server.

Internet Protocol (“IP”) Addresses. When users request pages from ldsjobs.org, our server may log their IP address in order to improve site administration. This information, along with the other information listed above, can also be used to produce usage statistics to help us to better meet the needs of users and determine specific interests.

Protecting Information

This site is equipped with security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration of the Personal Information under our control. We cannot guarantee that the Personal Information will not be lost or misused, but we make every effort to ensure that it is secured to avoid such problems.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Minor children should obtain permission from their parents before sending any information about themselves or others.

Third-Party Links

We routinely provide links to third-party employment-related sites through our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party sites. For the user’s own protection, the user should review the policies of such sites to ensure they meet the user’s personal expectations of privacy.

Future Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of the Privacy Policy at any time. As we do not typically use Personal Information except as provided for above, we are not in a position to notify each user of material changes in our Privacy Policy. We encourage users to check the Privacy Policy to remain informed of any changes.
