At LDS Employment Resource Services (LDS Jobs), we'll help you become gainfully employed through education and networking with local companies.Whether just starting out in your career or well established in your career, LDS Employment Resource Services (ERS) or Self-Reliance Services (SRS) can help you accomplish your career goals. The employment center or self-reliance center offers one-on-one coaching, workshops and a large database of employment, education and self-employment opportunities. By visiting the center you learn the most effective job search practices, build your network and find resources to help you further your education or manage a successful small-business.

We recommend that you log-in and begin creating your profile on ldsjobs.org prior to visiting the employment center. Even if an employment center or self-reliance center is not close enough for you to visit, ldsjobs.org offers many online resources. If you desire, an employment advisor can also provide assistance over the telephone or through e-mail.

The Career Transition Workshop (CTW) uses creative and entertaining presentations to motivate and to teach job seekers important skills to conduct a successful job search. Each session is led by accomplished Human Resources managers, professional recruiters or senior level managers who also provide assistance with resume creation, cover letters and interviewing skills. The Career Transition Workshops are staffed by volunteers. There is no charge for the workshops. A workbook of valuable job search materials is available for a donation to WCUMC of $20 (cash or check). An audio recording of the sessions is also available online at www.careertransitionworkshop.org. Each presentation is created by John McDorman, a career Human Resources and Recruiting professional,and the Managing Director of Transitional Consulting, Dallas, Texas.

The Resume Workshop

The Resume Workshop generally follows the Monday Career Workshop for Professionals. Learn how to write a print version resume, a version for uploading in an Applicant Tracking System and a text version resume when asked to copy and paste in an online application. Cover letters and business cards are also reviewed. Bring a laptop if you have one; if not, when registering asked for a netbook to be reserved for you. The Interview Workshop
