Whether just starting out in your career or well established in your career, LDS Employment Resource Services (ERS) or Self-Reliance Services (SRS) can help you accomplish your career goals. The employment center or self-reliance center offers one-on-one coaching, workshops and a large database of employment, education and self-employment opportunities. By visiting the center you learn the most effective job search practices, build your network and find resources to help you further your education or manage a successful small-business.
We recommend that you log-in and begin creating your profile on ldsjobs.org prior to visiting the employment center. Even if an employment center or self-reliance center is not close enough for you to visit, ldsjobs.org offers many online resources. If you desire, an employment advisor can also provide assistance over the telephone or through e-mail.
Any one looking to improve their current under employment situation, looking for work, wanting to enroll in school, or starting a business will benefit from learning the concepts taught in the career workshop. Individuals who take the Career Workshop and apply what they learn are able to shorten the time they spend looking for work.
This workshop is designed to be very interactive, motivating, and fun. All participates will receive information on how to communicate their skills and how to get past the gate keepers, in their search obtaining the job your seeking after. Applying the skills you learn from the workshop will help you to find a job, pursue your education goals, or start a business. You will also have an increased confidence in your ability to be successful in your career goals.
Professional Networking Group
This weekly networking group assists those professionals, managers, and executives in finding or upgrading their employment. This meeting provides networking opportunities, one-on-one coaching, professional-level job leads, and a place for you to conduct your job search.
By attending these meetings you will develop network contacts and discuss your networking efforts you can use while searching for a job. These meetings are held at the Beaverton Employment Resource Centers, (BERC). The facilitating career coach will assist you in:
- Networking with other professionals.
- Meet employers and executive recruiters.
- Learn additional job search techniques.
- Practice skills taught in the Career Workshop.
- Stay motivated throughout your job search.
