Si no hubiera un centro de empleo o de autosuficiencia cercano que le permita visitarlo, ldsjobs.org ofrece muchos recursos en línea. Si lo desea, un asesor de empleo también podrá ofrecerle asistencia por teléfono o por correo electrónico.

  • Interview preparation, including video-taped practice interviews
  • Information about local education and training programs, including scholarship and financial aid information
  • Information about local self-employment resources, including NGOs and microcredit institutions

This class will help you learn about your own skills, find out about career options and establish your career goals.  They will also cover the fundamental networking skills you will need and how to build a powerful network. Networking is the most effective way to find a job; approximately 70% of all jobs are found this way.

These classes (part 1 & 2 ) will cover the principles of creating impressive employment search documents, including cover letters, applications, resumes, thank you letters, etc. that will set you apart from other applicants.  You will learn how to “customize” your resume for each job you apply for and why that is so important.  You will also learn how to create “ Me in 30 Seconds” and power statements and how to use them effectively, not only in resumes, but when you are are calling contacts or interviewing.  Completing Part 1 is a prerequisite to attending Part 2.

A face-to-face interview is one of your most important opportunities to make a powerful impression.  You will learn how to present yourself appropriately, open your interview effectively, effective use of power statements, how to turn negatives into positives, and how to close your interview to have a lasting impact on how favorably your interviewer remembers your conversation. You will have the opportunity to practice interviewing and receive valuable feedback on specific ways for you to hone your interview skills.
